How do i pair my MAC with the VKB?
Mac OS 10.4 and above defaults to making its own passkey for bluetooth pairing. Other Macs may have this setting too.
To pair with a user chosen passkey (for the VKB) use this process:
1) Open the System Preferences Application.
2) In the Hardware Section, click on “Bluetooth”.
3) Select the “Devices” tab.
4) Click “Set Up New Device”.
5) The Introduction page for the Bluetooth Setup Assistant is displayed. Click “Continue”.
6) The “Select Device Type” page appears. Select “Any Device” or “Other Device” and click “Continue”.
7) Select the VKB Keyboard device.
Before you click continue,
8) Click on “Passkey Options…”, select “Use a specific passkey”, and click “OK”.
9) Click “Continue”.
From this point on, watch for the VKB to beep. This is the prompt to enter the passkey on it (and hit return). Some computers will prompt for a passkey before the VKB does, others after.
10) The Setup Assistant will ask you for a “Passkey” to pair with your device. Enter your passkey and click “Continue”.
11) Wait a few moments and the “Congratulations” page will come up. Click “Quit”.
Pairing the VKB with Win/XP SP2
- Go to Device Manager, find your Bluetooth device, right click- select Properties / Details. Note the PID - it will be something like "USB\VID_0A5C&PID_201E" (you can ignore the slash and anything else following this).
- Edit the file C:\WINDOWS\INF\bth.inf - look for the Device section and add your device with a suitable name and the PID from step 1. I added one that looked like this this:
IBM Integrated Bluetooth IV= BthUsb, USB\VID_0A5C&PID_201E
- Uninstall your current Bluetooth software. You will probably find this in Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs.
- When you have uninstalled the software, delete the Bluetooth device from Device Manager if it is still there. There may be another device called "Bluetooth Enumerator" - you can leave that there for now.
- Assuming your current software was WIDCOMM - search C:\Windows and subfolders for files beginning "BTW
- .
- " and either delete or rename them (to avoid these drivers being reinstalled in the next step).
- Reboot your PC. Windows will detect new hardware - select "Install from a List", then "Don't Search. I will choose...", and from the list of drivers displayed choose the name that you used in step 2 above (in my case "IBM Integrated Bluetooth IV").
- Click "Finish". After a few seconds another hardware installation window will appear for "Bluetooth". This time you can select automatic installation, and this will install the Bluetooth Enumerator drivers.
Windows XP SP2 native Bluetooth support is now installed.
Now if you go through the pairing process as documented, e.g.:
- Reset the VKB (Shift-FN-B and the paperclip trick)
- Turn the VKB on
- Right click the Bluetooth icon, select "Add a BT device" click "My device is set up" and click Next. It should find the VKB.
- Select the VKB, click Next and select "Let me choose my own passkey"
- Enter the Passkey and click Next.
- Whai for the VKB to beep once, then enter the same passkey and press Enter (on the VKB).
- Wait for the HID drivers to be installed... this takes a few seconds... then the VKB should be working.
You can upgrade to a Widcom driver that supports HID here:

Can I pair my Treo 700W with the VKB?
The Treo 700w does work with the VKB, thanks to the Windows Mobile 5.0 that runs on it.
The synchronization between the devices is performed as follows:
VKB:
1. Reset the VKB (Power on so that keyboard display shows).
2. Stick paper clip end into Reset hole on side.
3. Pick up VKB which turns it off and put it back down with power back on. A blue light on top of the VKB will blink every 2-3 seconds and keyboard display should be showing.
Treo:
1. Select the Bluetooth icon in upper right corner of start screen.
2. Check ‘Turn on Bluetooth'.
3. Check ‘Make this device discoverable’.
4. Select devices tab and then elect 'New Partnership'.
5. Select ‘VKB Keyboard’ when it finds it (could take 30-60 seconds), then enter between 1-8 characters for a Passkey. After a few seconds the VKB will beep.
6. Enter the same characters on the VKB keyboard display and press the 'Return' key.
7. Verify the screen confirming it’s setting up a new partnership for the VKB.
8. As for the display name, either accept the ‘VKB Keyboard’ default or enter a name.
9. Check 'Input Device' and save.
10. Finally, open a program on the Treo that accepts input (Word, Excel, etc), select ‘New' and start typing.
I have received my VKB and at first it worked properly, now I am having trouble charging it, whats wrong?
First try to adjust the USA electricity outlet- adapter (connected to the charger's electric plug), if it still does'nt operate properly you may have received a faulty adapter and you might need to purchase a new one- international adapters are available in every electric appliance outlets and hardware stores such as Radio Shack etc'.
Once you get your virtual keyboard to charge properly (if the charger light turns red that indicates that the VKB is being charged), fill in our contact form and we will credit you for the purchase. be sure to mention your full name and order number in addition to the full sum paid for the adapter (average $4).

Your Samsung i730 uses the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack. Though the i730 icon is not on the CD, it uses the same driver, and instructions as the i-mate Jam (a.k.a. Dopod 818/XDA Mini).
a. Install this driver (to check that you have the right driver installed, open the driver, go to VKB-> About. Should say at the top V5.0c.
b. Turn on your Keyboard. Press Shift-Fn-B for about 2-3 seconds until hearing a beep (your keyboard is now ready for pairing...).
c. Tap the VKB Program
d. Tap the Connection tab and select Bluetooth from the Virtual Keyboard on dropdown box.
e. Press the Search button.
f. Upon completion of the search, the drop down list of devices should be filled with VKB Keyboard.
g. Tap the VKB tab and check the Enable Keyboard checkbox.
h. The software will prompt you for a Bluetooth passkey Using the keyboard on the screen of the i730, enter a passkey of between 1 and 8 digits (one digit is enough, I always use "9") and then tap Initiate Pairing.
i. Listen for the “beep” on the Virtual Keyboard, then, using the keyboard projected by the Virtual Keyboard repeat the passkey and press return [8].
j. The blue LED will go on to show your successful connection. You are now ready to use the keyboard.
I can't get my treo 650 to pair with my keyboard. The treo is not discovering the keyboard.
If the Treo 650 can't find the VKB this could be because one of two possible reasons:
a. The VKB is "connected" (or at least thinks so...) to another device. To resolve this while VKB is ON, insert a paper-clip into Reset hole behind rubber flap on bottom right side of VKB press gently on microswitch momentarily and remove paper clip wait for VKB to emit "beep" Pick up KB and turn off Replace on surface and turn on.
b. You may be looking are incorrect view on Treo. Make sure you're looking ar "Nearby Devices"
Does the VKB (Bluetooth) work with windows mobile 5.0 (I am purchasing a smartphone with windows mobile 5.0)?
Depends on which smartphone model you have.
Our keyboard supports both the HID and SPP Bluetooth profiles (services). Some of the newer WM5 models come with built-in HID service and will work as is with the keyboard.
The other models will require the new VKB Driver for Windows Mobile 5 which is currently in work and scheduled to be released first week of April.
When trying to pair my Bluetooth VKB with my PalmTX/Treo 650 (other PalmOS device) I get a "Serial: timeout. Could be bad cable or faulty Modem. (Ser 03005)" Error message.
First, before starting, please make sure that you have the latest version of the VKB Driver for PalmOS. It should be V4.6.5.
If not - please download and install from here:

Second, when initiating the pairing with the VKB, you should see a "Connecting to VKB Keyboard" message. Upon hearing the beep from the VKB, enter on the projected image a passkey consisting of 1 to 8 digits (personally, I always use the single digit "9") followed by Enter. At this point you will be prompted to enter the same passkey on the Palm device....

Owners of Blackberry devices, whose device is contacted to a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES), need to install and configure the VKB Driver for Blackberry via the BES. How does the owner of a Blackberry device know that he is connected to a BES ?
The only way to know if a user is connected to a BES is to contact the wireless service provider (carrier) of that phone or their corporate IT administrator if the phone is issued by their employer.
If email is through service provider or carrier, most public service provider use WAP email system. So BES configuration is not required. They can ask their service provider If this is the case. Then configuration might be necessary only on the device if device OS is 4.1 and higher. Newer Blackberry devices such as 8700 / 7130 / 7105 come with 4.1 OS and have Injector configuration on the device. Many carriers are releasing OS 4.1 for their existing phones in the field so even if user is not on the BES they might need to configure injector api on the device.
Steps for non-BES-users (ON Device OS 4.1):
1. Open [Options]
2. Open [Advance Options\Applications\Modules]
3. Highlight [VKB Driver File] application
4. Select [Edit Permissions]
5. Select [Interactions]
6. Select [Change Option]
7. Select [Allow]
8. Exit and Save
9. Reset device
I have a T-Mobile SDA Smartphone, which driver am I supposed to use with my keyboard? The operating system is Windows Mobile 5.0
Seems there is a bit of a mixup, so I will try and clear up things a bit.
The T-Mobile SDA uses Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone and won't work with the VKB Driver for WM5 that you downloaded. So first of all, please uninstall it.
It depends on the vendor (in this case T-Mobile), but some of these phones come with the newly supported Bluetooth HID profile which our keyboard supports. When pairing with the VKB if you have the option to connect as "Input Device" then do so, and you will not need a special VKB Driver at all.
If the above is not the case, then please use the attached VKB Driver. Double-click on it for it to install itself. If you are not connected via ActiveSync it will install itself the next time you do connect via ActiveSync.
Pairing and connecting is done via the VKB Driver so...... please follow the instructions on pages 10-12 of the attached User Guide.
After installing the latest driver, V4.6.5., my Palm T|X continued to display a "Serial Timeout: ... (Ser 0305)" message.
After emptying the Bluetooth cache, the devices connected with no problems.
How to empty the BT cache: Go to : Applications Tap to get menu Select App Delete... Scroll down to "Bluetooth Device Cache" Select this and click on Delete...
The VKB should now connect following the instructions.
How do I replace the battery in my VKB?
Look at the back part of the VKB, where the "VKB – Short Cuts" sticker is placed. If you notice carefully, you'll see that the back side of the VKB is actually a cover. In its upper part, you'll see a small silver-hole – this is the locking mechanism. Push a pin into that hole and press it, while sliding the cover downwards. Don't use force to slide the cover – if it doesn't slide easily, it means you didn't push the pin strong enough into the hole.
After you've slide the cover, take the battery out of its niche. Underneath, you'll see that the battery is connected to the KVB via a cord. Detach the small plug from the VKB carefully, and plug the new battery's plug instead. Slide the cover back up until you hear the locking mechanism click.
When I load the KeyPro BlackBerry driver onto my device I get an "Injector API Blocking" error massage. What can I do?
The error massage is caused by security measures implented by your BES Application Control Policy for your device. Contact your BES administrator to configure your device's Application Control Policy to allow the MMG driver use of the injector API. The KeyPro User's Manual explains how to configure your device Application Control Policy.
